Becoming a member of Bay Area Bassmasters opens many doors for all anglers. Regardless of age, you can compete for our Team Anglers of the Year (TAOY) awards. Anyone over the age of 18 also has the opportunity to qualify to fish in the upcoming Bassmasters Classic. Bay Area Bassmasters is a club that provides something for everyone, whether you're an avid experienced angler, or someone who is new to the sport, we want to invite you to join us and experience the sheer fun of tournament bass fishing at it's best. Gary Ford and Joe Hobson earn the Car Shop Winter Haven Sweat Box Challenge. They hit a running drain early then worked the outside edges of the pepper grass with the Carolina rig to cull up to 19.80 pounds. Our tournament directors do a great job and it's great to see them in the winners circle again. Coming in second by only .10 pounds is the team of Frank Jones and Fred Liggett. Their limit would go 19.70 pounds (for those who's math skills are lacking). Third place would go to Casey Gonzalez and Eugene Terkoski with 18.80 pounds. Our first Trophy Catch of the year was brought to the scales by the team of Steve Sapp and Gordon Guinn. She would go 10.95 pounds and take over first place for lunker of the year. Forty one teams competed and almost everyone brought a limit to the scales.

Chris Neatherly and Steve Gallette take home the win in the Walpole Harris Chain Derby. They knew where some water was running in to the lake and headed there first thing. An hour and a half later they had 24.63 pounds in their livewell. They caught them on almost everything they threw including soft plastics and lipless crankbaits. Second place belonged to Clint Kummelman and Jared Young with 20.64 and third went to Ken and Stephen Whitlow with 19.78 pounds. The Whitlow's also brought in our new lunker of the year with a 9.93 pound monster. Forty one teams competed with thirty three teams catching their limit.
